Hi my name is Debbie and I am currently working towards my AA in Child Development. I am only a few classes away from graduating and can’t wait it has been a long time coming. I had to take a break from school due to becoming a mom to my two year old daughter Isabella. She was a total surprise especially since I was planning my wedding. We ended up changing our plans of a huge Italian wedding to a nice small one before she was born. Isabella is the high light of my life and keeps me going everyday.
I work as a Toddler Program Manager of twelve two year olds which includes my daughter. I enjoy my job very much even though some days are super crazy. My career goal is to open my own preschool one day and continue learning more about children. I have always worked with children and I don’t picture myself doing anything else. My enjoyment is watching them play and learn new things everyday. When they come in to my classroom and run up to me with a hug it is the best feeling in the world.
As far as a learner I do better hands on and it takes me some time to get things. I pace my self so that I get the information and usually don’t get my work done early due to my crazy life. It has been a while since I have had an English class so it will take me awhile to adjust to all the reading and writing. I look forward to working and talking to all of the other students.

Hello Debbie,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the class. It sounds like you are the perfect person to run a pre-school. It takes a lot of patience and love for children, to do what you do. The world could use more people with that kind of commitment to childrens welfare. Good job!
Hello Debbie, it seems there are quite a few moms in the class! Wow 12 toddlers at once, that has got to be a busy day, but sounds like you really enjoy it. I know how much I have appreciated my daycares in the past, you do a wonderful thing.

ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're taking this class with us! Twelve Toddlers! I am impressed. My Daughters are 3 and 5, so I know it's not easy with one toddler, let alone twelve! It takes a special person to teach young children! It's such an important time; you are making a huge impact on their lives.
Lauren :)
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a lot of patience with the field you have chosen. I know you will have a positive impact on the children and their families. Have a great semester.
Hello Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when I read your introduction because we have the same story. I am a mom of a 22-month-old little girl (also a surprise) and I can not imagine the kind of energy you have to be a toddler manager for 12 two-year-olds! I love the fact that you are educating yourself on the best way to help a child develop before you open your pre-school. A lot of people think that just because they love kids they have the best pre-school around. I want Delilah to spend her days doing things that help her to develop her skills. Do you have any more openings in your play group? I have been trying to socialize Delilah but am having a hard time finding other toddlers for her to play with. Any tips or info you have would be great.
